Workshop Title: Introduction to accounting and tax for startups.

The presentation will offer an insightful exploration into the accounting and tax considerations relevant to startups. 

Initially, we'll highlight the importance of maintaining precise financial records and delve into key aspects of accounting, keeping accounting records, define key statements. We will additionally present the financial reporting requirements specific to Cyprus.

In the second part, we'll outline the various taxes applicable in Cyprus, shedding light on essential tax benefits that startups can leverage, such as the IP regime and NID deduction.

By the conclusion of this session, participants will have established a foundation in essential accounting and tax principles. This newfound knowledge will empower them to make well-informed financial decisions, handle their tax obligations, and establish a robust financial framework for their startup's journey.

Trainer's Short BIO

Stelios is a Partner and Co-founder at Sagehill Partners. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Public Administration majoring in Finance from the University of Cyprus. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (FCA) as well as a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC).   He was a member of the Auditing Standards committee of ICPAC for more than 4 years (2014-2019) where has been vice-president of the committee for the last 2 years.

Stelios brings to Sagehill Partners 18 years of experience in Deloitte where he was a Director for the last 8 years. Throughout his career, Stelios has gained extensive experience in organising and leading the audits of large local and multinationals located in more than 20 countries, where he was involved in the listing of entities/bonds and audits of public listed entities, complex consolidation processes, and the handling of complicated IFRS and audit issues. Stelios was also a member of the Deloitte Academy training team for more than 11 years, where he was responsible for audit methodology, group audits and IFRSs. In addition, he was directly involved in a number of financial due diligence projects and purchase price allocation exercises on acquisitions and mergers, ERP implementations and development of complicated consolidations and reporting packages, business and derivatives valuations, and testing of internal controls.
